William Preston Lynch, an 82-year-old resident of Trenton, died at 10:10 a.m. on Sunday, July 17, 2005 at the Sunnyview Nursing Home in Trenton, where he had been admitted on Monday, June 27, 2005.

William Preston Lynch, an 82-year-old resident of Trenton, died at 10:10 a.m. on Sunday, July 17, 2005 at the Sunnyview Nursing Home in Trenton, where he had been admitted on Monday, June 27, 2005.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 20, 2005 at the Honey Creek Chapel Christian Church. Rev. Danny Moore will officiate. Burial will be in the Resthaven Memorial Gardens, north of Trenton.
A family visitation will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday,l July 19, 2005 at the Resthaven Mortuary, north of Trenton.
Mr. Lynch was born on Aug. 28, 1922 southwest of Spickard, the son of Arthur Porter and Edith May Hopkins Lynch. He graduated in 1941 from Spickard High school. He was married on Oct. 9, 1943 in Trenton to Virginia Mae Keith, who survives of the home.
Mr. Lynch served in the U.S. Army and fought in the European Theater during World War II, receiving three Bronze Stars. After returning from the war, he worked at Trenton Foods for 28 years and continued to farm northeast of Trenton. He enjoyed the outdoors and travel. He spent several winters in Mesa, AZ and several summers in Cooke City, MT. He moved to Trenton in 1980 and continued to farm and has resided at the Trenton Apartments since 1998. He enjoyed music and sang at many nursing homes.
He was a member of the Joseph L. Norton VFW Post No. 919 of Trenton and was an elder of the Honey Creek Chapel Church, where he served and taught for more than 50 years.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Sammy Lynch and his wife, Paula, of Trenton and Tom Lynch and his wife, Karen, of Spickard; two sisters, Mary Hamilton of Trenton and Edith Schuster of Belvider, IL: two brothers, Lewis Lynch and D.G. Lynch of Trenton; six grandchildren, Barry Lee Lynch and his wife, Julie, of Mesa, AZ, Terry Ray Lynch and his wife, Adrianne, of Mesa, Scotty Ray Lynch and his wife, Lynda, of Trenton, Shane Alan Lynch of Nashville, TN, and Johannah Darlene Lynch and Matalie Anne Lynch of Spickard; and five great-grandchildren, Josh and Alexandra Katlyn Lynch of Mesa and Samantha Rhea, Megan Marie and Emily Ann Lynch of Trenton.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, William Bill Lynch; and two brothers, Gerald and Willis Lynch.
The family suggests memorials to the Honey Creek Church or the Grundy County Senior Center.
