Principal Jean Dustman said the board heard a report on summer school, which noted that 21 students were enrolled and an average daily attendance of 81 percent was recorded.
The board accepted a bid from Prairie Farms to supply milk for the 2005-2006 school year, with the school charges as follows for half-pint containers: 2 percent white, .1843 cents; 1 percent white, .1725 cents; skim milk, .1611 cents; 1 percent chocolate, .1787 cents; and skim chocolate, .1747 cents.
Bids from MFA were also approved, with the company to supply LP gas at $1.189 and diesel fuel at $1.914 plus margins of 8 cents for a total price of $1,994 for the 2005-2006 school year.
In other business, the board reviewed and approved the District Evaluation Plan and the Instructional Evaluation, as well as a new policy manual. The budget was also reviewed.
It was reported that the school building has been painted this past month and voted to hire Terry Blattner to repair the concrete work in front of the school building. It was also agreed to hire a person to put up the playground fence since the ABC Club purchased the materials.
An executive session was held, with no announcement made.
The board agreed to change its August meeting from Aug. 8 to Aug. 15.
Newtown-Harris
Superintendent Andy Anderson reported that the board approved the 2005-2006 budget. Anticipated revenues are $1,310,471, with expected expenditures of $1,258,870.
Anderson said 46 students had perfect attendance during summer school and presented certificates to Misti Coin, Chris Gibson and Jack Wells for board member training.
In other business, the board approved a change to the Professional Development Com-mittee. The change requires that committee members must have taught for five years to serve as a member. Changes were also approved for the 2005-2006 student handbook. Anderson was appointed the Title IX and Drug Test Coordinator for the district and reported that he will attend a conference at Tan-Tar-A from July 31 to Aug 2. He also commended custodians Ron and Judy Hall and the summer workers Heather Simpson, Katie Mino, Andy Busick and Brandon Coin on their work during the summer.
Anderson reported that during a special meeting on July 5, the board hired Misty Hall as high school principal. In addition, Jacob Probst was hired as fifth and sixth grade instructor and Tara Fenton was hired as Title I instructor.
The next regular meeting of the board is scheduled for 7 p.m. Aug. 8 and will include the tax rate hearing.
