Carl Summers Jr., an 82-year-old resident of Sebring, FL, died on Friday, July 1, 2005 in Sebring after a long illness.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 6, 2005 at the Faith Lutheran Church in Sebring under the direction of the Stephenson-Nelson Funeral Home.
Mr. Summers was born in Mercer County, the son of C.S. and Ethel Callen Summers. He was a graduate of Spickard High School and worked for John Deere in Moline, IL for 27 years. He was a former vice president and director of marketing for Star Forms, Inc., was former president of the Untied Township High school Board of Directors and former president of the East Moline-Silbus Chamber of Commerce. He moved in 1991 to Sebring, where he was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church, the International Troupe and the Sebring Country Club. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Nina; daughters Carla Kelly of Rock Island, IL, Joy Bruemmer of Denver, CO, Jill Spiugleman of Austin, TX, Patricia Davis of Sebring and Debra Ferry of Moline; and one sister, Ethel Ryan of Clinton, IA.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister; and five brothers.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Faith Lutheran Church in Sebring.
