Spirit of the Wild West” will be the theme for the 2005 North Central Missouri Fair Parade, which kicks off evening activities for this year’s event on Tuesday, Aug. 2.

The parade begins at 6 p.m. and will follow the normal fair parade route. Parade entries will be taken at the Trenton Area Chamber of Commerce office.

The fair will be held Tuesday, Aug. 2 through Saturday, Aug. 6 and will include a number of activities throughout the week.

Music, which has been an annual feature at the fair, has been moved to inside the Merchant’s Area at the Rock Barn Courtyard and will be held on four nights at no cost. The NCM Fair Board, PAR Broadcast Group and KTTN is sponsoring this year’s musical entertainment, which begins on Tuesday night with pre-recorded music provided by BeBoppin’ Dave and Techno Tim’s D.J. Service. Wednesday night’s entertainment will feature bluegrass music, provided by the Lynch Family of Spickard and the band Slow Leak from Trenton. It will be Gospel Night on Thursday with music by Glory Road of Chillicothe and Living Water of Trenton. Friday night’s program will feature a Kansas City band, “Premium Adjustors,” which features a variety of music, including oldies, jazz and blues.

Each music show will begin at 7 o’clock. Persons attending are encouraged to take lawn chairs and blankets for seating.

Grandstand entertainment during the week will include the Funny Farm Olympics, a tractor pull, bullriding, ATV races and the demolition derby. Times and dates for those events will be announced later.

The NCM Fair Board has reviewed two bids submitted for the electrical work at the site of the newly-constructed livestock barn and accepted the low bid from Trenton Electrical Contracts, LLC. Officials expect the work to be completed by the week of the fair.
