Edna I. Brown, a 94-year-old resident of Unionville, died on Saturday, June 25, 2005 at the Putnam County Care Center in Unionville. She was a former Newtown resident.

Edna I. Brown, a 94-year-old resident of Unionville, died on Saturday, June 25, 2005 at the Putnam County Care Center in Unionville. She was a former Newtown resident.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Monday, June 27, 2005 at the Luscan Funeral Home in Unionville. Pastor Danny Busick officiated. Burial was in the Newtown Cemetery.

Mrs. Brown was born on Aug. 19, 1910 in Putnam County, the daughter of Oral and Grace Campbell Holt. She was raised in the Newtown area and attended the local schools, graduating with the Class of 1929. She was married on Oct. 22, 1932 to Glen Brown, who preceded her in death on Feb. 3, 1978. The couple made their home in Mercer, Sullivan and Putnam counties. She enjoyed cooking and sewing along with being able to fix anything. She was a member of the Newtown Christian Church.

She is survived by a daughter, Glendoris Crownover and her husband, Jack, of Independence; a daughter-in-law, Kathy Brown of Unionville; two granddaughters, Teresa Yardley and her husband, Robert, of Cameron, and Susanne Gibson and her husband, Kenneth, of Buckner; three great-grandchildren, Kyle Yardley, Andrew Gibson and Erin Gibson; four nieces and nephews, Patricia Ellis, Franklin Widner, Cecil Earle Smythe and Twila Sublett; and a sister Vera Nell Strauser of Converse, TX.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Donald Brown on Sept. 17, 2004; a sister, Norma Widner; and a brother, Roy Holt.

A memorial to the American Cancer Society has been established. Contributions may be left at or mailed to the Luscan Funeral Home in Unionville.
