Donald L. Searcy, a 79-year-old resident of Sunnyview Nursing Home in Trenton, died on Wednesday, June 22, 2005 at the nursing home, where he had been a resident since April 1.

Donald L. Searcy, a 79-year-old resident of Sunnyview Nursing Home in Trenton, died on Wednesday, June 22, 2005 at the nursing home, where he had been a resident since April 1.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 25, 2005 at the Martin Cemetery, located north of Trenton. A scheduled family visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, June 24, 2005 at Resthaven Mortuary, located north of Trenton. Open visitation will begin at 10 a.m. on Friday.
Mr. Searcy was born east of Laredo on June 1, 1926, the son of Walter G. and Lottie Faye Ishmael Searcy. He was married to Maxine Renfro on Nov. 23, 1962 in Trenton. She preceded him in death on Dec. 7, 2002.
Mr. Searcy worked on the family farm until he and his wife moved to Texas, where he worked for Pendleton Harbor Park and went shrimping with his step-son, Ronnie. The couple moved back to Trenton in 1998.
Mr. Searcy is survived by a step-son, Jim Neff of Des Moines, IA; five sisters, Louise M. Renfro, Kathleen Gibson, and Norma J. Hobbs and her husband, Bill all of Trenton, Dorothy F. Berry and her husband, Frank, of Topeka, KS, and Betty J. Murphy of Chillicothe; three brothers, Nova W. Searcy and his wife, Norma, of Nevada, IA, James E. Searcy and his wife, Roberta, of Princeton, and Billy J. Searcy and his wife, Lila, of Laredo; and five step-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Searcy was preceded in death by a step-son, Ronnie Neff; two sisters, Marie Hess and Velma Hinnen; two brothers, Bobby Gene and Walter Leon Searcy; and two step-grandchildren.
