The Trenton Sesquicentennial Planning Committee met Monday night in the Sugg Room of the Ketcham Community Center, announcing major committee leaders and discussing several topics including events, financing, the need for a celebration theme and logo and the date for the next meeting.
Work for the sesquicentennial celebration will be accomplished through four major teams, the Activities, Finance, Publicity and Book committees. The Activities Committee, chaired by Terri Henderson, will coordinate all activities and events. The Finance Committee, co-chaired by John Woodrich and Gary Hurst, is responsible for developing a budget and overall financing. The Publicity Committee, co-chaired by Sean Burge, Dave Miles and Diane Raynes, will initiate and coordinate communications with the public and community organizations. Gloria Carpenter and Evelyn Trickel, co-chairmen for the Book Committee, will design and supervise the production of a community book.
Suggestions for an overall theme for the sesquicentennial celebration will be solicited from the public in the near future. The next meeting of the Sesquicentennial Planning Committee will be at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 16 in the Sugg Room. Anyone with ideas for activities and interest in working with the committee to celebrate Trenton?s 150th anniversary is encouraged to attend the meeting.
