Ralph Eugene “Gene” Howard, a 68-year-old resident of Winston, died on Friday, June 17, 2005 at the North Kansas City Hospital.

Ralph Eugene “Gene” Howard, a 68-year-old resident of Winston, died on Friday, June 17, 2005 at the North Kansas City Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 23, 2005 at the First Christian Church in Gallatin. Burial will be at the Christian Chapel Cemetery in Cameron.

A family visitation will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 22, 2005 at the Poland-Thompson Funeral Home in Cameron.

Mr. Howard was born on Feb. 21, 1937 in Cameron, the son of Ernest E. and Olive W. Whitaker Howard Sr. He was a 1955 graduate of Cameron High School and a 1979 graduate of Missouri Western State College in St. Joseph, where he earned a degree in psychology. He was a retired counselor for the Sigma House Addition Center in Branson. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Gallatin.

He is survived by one son, Jon Howard and his wife, Sandra, of Lake Ozark; two daughters, Gena Puckett and her husband, Steve, of St. Joseph and Jill Smith and her husband, Vince, of Chillicothe; three brothers, John Howard of Clarksdale, Lyle Howard of West Memphis, AR and Lynn Howard of Mendham, NJ; and seven grandchildren, Anthony and Kyle Howard, Ashton, Bailey and Cydney Puckett and Andrew and Matthew Smith.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Bud.

The family suggests memorials to the First Christian Church Building fund at Gallatin.
