The Galt Community Fair will be held held July 7-10 this year, with a spaghetti supper, baby show, pitch tournament, parade and prince and princess contest to be among the events.

The Galt Community Fair will be held held July 7-10 this year, with a spaghetti supper, baby show, pitch tournament, parade and prince and princess contest to be among the events.

Events get under way on Thursday, July 7, with a spaghetti supper, sponsored by the Galt Volunteer Fire District Ladies Auxiliary, to be held from 5 to 8 p.m. at the fire station. Andy Avery will provide entertainment at 7 p.m. with those attending asked to bring lawn chairs.

Also on Thursday, Grundy R-5 FFA members can enter their farm mechanics exhibits by 9 p.m.

On Friday, 4-H exhibit entries must be entered at the new fire station by 10 a.m. and remain until 2 p.m. Saturday. Judging will take place Friday morning. All entries must be this year?s work.

Quilts, crafts and garden entries are also due at the new fire station by 10 a.m., with no previous blue ribbon winners allowed. Articles must be picked up by 4 p.m. Saturday.

A fire department program will be held at 6 p.m. Friday, with musical entertainment by ?White Water ? to begin at 8 p.m.

The baby show will be held Saturday, with registration set for 9 a.m. at the Galt Baptist Church. Divisions for boys and girls will be held in the following age groups: 0 to 4 months; 5 to 9 months; 10 to 18 months; 19 to 36 months. First place winners will receive $5, with second place winners receiving $3 and third place winners receiving $2.

A pitch tournament will begin at 9 a.m. in the new fire station, with pre-registration required by calling Judy Meeker at 673-6165. There will be two ages groups, up to 18 years of age and 18 and over. First prize is $100 for each age group.

Street contests will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, with the horseshoe tournament scheduled for noon, as well as the lawnmower tractor pull. Persons may contact Donnie McDonald at 673-6978 for more information about the horseshoe tournament and Ron Sprout for rules and regulations about the lawnmower tractor pull.

A parade and kiddie parade will be held Saturday evening, with entries wishing to be judged asked to be in line by 5 p.m. The parade will begin at 6 p.m. Pre-registration is required.

A penny-a-vote prince and princess contest is also scheduled, with the following candidates: Dani Baker and Gunner Sawyer, kindergarten; Brooke Dustman and Justus Skinner, first grade; Shandon Gann and Taylor Murphy, second grade; Courtney Michael and Destin Gann, third grade; Sammy Stevens and Zach Stephens, fourth grade; Krystal Olson and Aaron Delp, fifth grade; and Yolonda Ruegsegger and Shawn Gott, sixth grade.

Drawings for cash prizes, gift certificates and a quilt will be held Saturday night. Musical entertainment will be provided by ?Young Country,? beginning at 8 p.m.

A whole hog roast sandwich with full menu will be served beginning at 11 a.m. on Friday and continuing through Saturday, although it will be closed during the parade.

Inflatable children?s amusements will be available all weekend.

On Sunday, a community church service will be held at 10:30 a.m. at the park. Those attending should bring lawn chairs.
