Dorothy Geraldine Parmenter, a 92-year-old resident of the Harris community, died at 1:20 p.m. on Sunday, May 8, 2005 at Wright Memorial Hospital in Trenton, where she had been a patient since April 30, 2005.

Dorothy Geraldine Parmenter, a 92-year-old resident of the Harris community, died at 1:20 p.m. on Sunday, May 8, 2005 at Wright Memorial Hospital in Trenton, where she had been a patient since April 30, 2005.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 11, 2005 at the Newtown Christian Church. Burial will be in the Harris Cemetery at Harris.
A family visitation will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 10, 2005 at the Payne Funeral Home in Galt.
Mrs. Parmenter was born on Feb. 21, 1913 in Harris, the daughter of Edwin Merit and Ellen Jane Dorr Todd. She grew up in Harris, where she attended school and graduated from Harris High School in 1930. She taught school in a one-room school at Wintersville for a few years following graduation and later worked as a clerk at the Harris Drug Store. She was married on Nov. 16, 1935 in Des Moines, IA, to Albert Gale Parmenter, who preceded her in death on Dec. 20, 1963. They lived and farmed all their married lives in the Harris area. She joined the Harris Christian Church in 1965 and was active there for many years.
She is survived by two sons, Chuck Parmenter and Eddie Parmenter and his wife, Carolyn, all of rural Harris; a daughter, Margie, now Mrs. Ed Hart of Princeton; seven grandchildren, David Clapham, Lisa Derry, Diane Carmichael, Julie Tucker and Jenny, John and Christy Hart; 10 great-grandchildren, Megan, Sara and Jeremy Clapham, Danessa Derry, Reece and Peyton Carmichael, Tara Collings and Amanda, Justin and Jason Tucker.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two daughters, an infant, Jean Louise Parmenter, and Janet Gayle Clapham; a son-in-law, Clinton Clapham; a granddaughter, Carol Ann Clapham; a sister, Harriet Mildred Christy; and a brother, Austin Todd.
The family suggested memorials to the Harris Cemetery. The can be mailed to the cemetery at Harris, MO 64645.
