James Verl Roberts, a 65-year-old resident of Chula, died on Friday, May 6,l 2005 at Livingston Manor in Chillicothe.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, May 9, 2005 at the Lindley Funeral Home in Chillicothe. Burial will be in the May Cemetery at Chula.
A family visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, May 8, 2005 at the funeral home. A general visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Sunday and from 8 a.m. until service time on Monday.
Mr. Roberts was born on May 31, 1939 in Chillicothe, the son of Verl E. and Georgia J. Uhrmacher Roberts. He was a 1957 graduate of Chillicothe High School. He spent all his life in the Livingston and Linn County areas, working as a farmer and construction worker. He loved to fish, hunt and play cards.
He was married on June 30, 1962 in Laredo to Donna L. Dudley, who survives of the home at Chillicothe.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Kathy Sargent and her husband, Mike of Meadville, Rhonda Young of Meadville and Dianne Oder and her husband, Tim, of Meadville; one brother, Joe Roberts and his wife, Lynn, of Chula; two sisters, Ann Campbell and her husband, Charlie, of Chula, and Judy Thomas of Chula; and nine grandchildren, Katie, Kaci and Kelli Sargent, Danny, Amanda and Greg Young, Abby and Cole Seifert and Claire Jordan, all of Meadville.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Dick Roberts; one nephew, Jarret Campbell; one son-in-law, Bud Jordan; his father-in-law, Jess Dudley; and an infant sister.
The family has suggested memorial contributions to the Meadville R-4 PTO or Booster Club. They may be left at or mailed to the Lindley Funeral Home at PO Box 47, Chillicothe, MO 64601.
