Spickard City Council Meets
The Spickard City Council met Tuesday evening, accepting a bid for mowing at the lagoon site, giving the oath of office and passing a resolution.
According to City Clerk Dee Ann Olson, the council accepted a bid from Larry Persell for mowing and baling the hay at the lagoon site. His bid, which was the only one received, involves Persell keeping two-thirds of the hay and pay $12 per bale for the remaining one-third.
The oath of office was given to Mayor Wayne Wilson and North Ward Alderman Bob Darby. Terry Gibson, south ward alderman, will be given the oath of office at a later time. Harry Brown was elected to serve as president of the council and utility customers were reminded that the annual fees, totaling $2.80, will be on the May utility bill.
In other business, the board adopted a resolution stating their intent to participate in a natural hazard mitigation plan which has been developed by the county. Mrs. Olson said that by participating in the plan, the city will be eligible for certain funds through the State Emergency Management Agency and the Federal Emergency Management Agency should those funds become available.
The next regular meeting is scheduled for June 7.
