Dorris L. Grice, a 90-year-old retired Edinburg farmer, died at 11:15 a.m. on Sunday, May 1, 2005 at the Eastview Manor Care Center in Trenton, where he had resided the past month.

Dorris L. Grice, a 90-year-old retired Edinburg farmer, died at 11:15 a.m. on Sunday, May 1, 2005 at the Eastview Manor Care Center in Trenton, where he had resided the past month.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 5, 2005 at the Whitaker-Eads Funeral Home in Trenton. Burial will be in the Edinburg IOOF Cemetery at Edinburg.

A family visitation will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 4, 2005 at the funeral home.

Mr. Grice was born on Feb. 11, 1915 in Linn County near the Mt. Olive neighborhood, the son of Lewis E. and Sadie Elizabeth Merrick Grice. He was married on July 15, 1939 at Trenton to Helen Lee Hooper, who preceded him in death on Nov. 14, 1988. He was married at Branson on Aug. 11, 1989 to Alice Henderson, who survives of the home near Edinburg. Mr. Grice lived all his married life in Daviess and Grundy counties, where he farmed. He had lived south of Gilman City until moving to a farm south of Edinburg in 1977.

Mr. Grice was a member of the Edinburg Baptist Church, the Edinburg IOOF Lodge, the Jamesport Masonic Lodge, Gallatin Chapter, Trenton Council No. 37 RAM and the Godfrey DeBouillon No. 24 KT.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Margaret, now Mrs. George Fischer of Des Moines, IA; two grandsons, Drennan Fischer of Des Moines and Chet Fischer of Phoenix, AZ; a step-daughter, Connie Lou McKay of Dennison, TX; two step-sons, James D. and John David Wells, both of Jamesport; nine step-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.

Besides his parents and first wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Lloyd and Fern Grice; and three sisters, Fay Gray, Thelma Haley and Dorothy Urich.

The family has requested contributions to the Endowment Fund of the Edinburg IOOF Cemetery.
