Three Trenton FFA judging teams came home with group I ratings following the State FFA Convention last week in Columbia.

Three Trenton FFA judging teams came home with group I ratings following the State FFA Convention last week in Columbia.

The FFA Knowledge Team placed fifth and received a group I rating. Three team members received individual ratings of I, including Kristen Geib, who placed 15th; Camie Steinhoff, who was 17th; and Emily Schmidt, who was 25th. Aimee Gutshall earned a rating of II.

The Livestock Team placed 11th and earned a group I rating. Megan Schmidt was ninth overall and received a I rating. Receiving II ratings were Stephanie Gutshall and Sadie Jones.

The Poultry Team earned a group I rating by placing 13th. Trent Steinhoff was the 33rd high individual and received a rating of I. Earning a rating of II were Derek Lowrey, Dustin Koon and Adam McClure.

The Nursing Landscape Team placed 20th and earned a group II rating. Tosha Altes and Ashten Witten earned II ratings while Katie Whitt and Sabrina Barron had ratings of III.

The Meats Team was 24th and earned a group II rating. All three members, Jason Ausberger, Destiny Silvers and Brent Applebury, received individual ratings of II.

The Entomology Team placed 33 and earned a group II rating. Team members Molly Holeman, Taylor Cox and Mackenzie Hall all earned ratings of II.

Earning a group II rating was the Dairy Cattle Team, which placed 45th. Misty Sharp earned a II rating. Ratings of III went to Charly DeVorss, Kelly Tredway and Kendra Foster.

Aimee Gutshall placed fourth in the FFA Creed Speaking.

Both Grundy R-5 judging teams earned group I ratings. The Farm Management Team placed eighth with Alex Peterson as the 13th-high individual and Steven Lentz as the 34th-high individual. Both earned a I rating. Receiving ratings of II were Corey Gott and Whitney Smith.

The Meat Team was 11th. Kabel Oaks was seventh-high individual judge and received a I rating. Earning ratings of II were Shari May, Kyle Larson and Logan Jackson.

State Farmer Degrees were presented to several area students. They included Jeff Stevens, Megan Schmidt, Megean McCloud, Sadie Jones and Stephanie Gutshall of Trenton; Justin Lea of Grundy R-5; and Eric Pollard, John Shelton and Seth Moore of Princeton. Rhonda Brown of Jefferson City, formerly of Trenton, was among individuals receiving an Honorary FFA Degree.

Local students participating in the State FFA Choir were Logan Campbell, Jeff Stevens, Taylor Cox and Aimee Gutshall. Cathie Lowrey, music instructor at Princeton, was one of the choir directors.
