Earnest Glen Gates, an 83-year-old resident of Farmersville, died on Tuesday, April 19, 2005 at the North Kansas City Hospital in North Kansas City.

Earnest Glen Gates, an 83-year-old resident of Farmersville, died on Tuesday, April 19, 2005 at the North Kansas City Hospital in North Kansas City.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 22, 2005 at the Lindley Funeral Home in Chillicothe. Burial will be in the Resthaven Memorial Gardens at Chillicothe.

A family visitation is scheduled from 10 to 11 a.m. on Friday, prior to the services at the funeral home. General visitation will be from 8 a.m. until 9 p.m. on Thursday, April 21, 2005 at the funeral home.

Mr. Gates was born on Jan. 9, 1922 in Bevier, the son of Earl and Lillian Pearl Jones Gates. He was married on May 10, 1940 in Linneus to Margaret Hibler, who survives of the home.

Mr. Gates hauled milk for over 25 years. He was also retired from Trenton Foods, where he had worked for 20 years. He enjoyed gardening.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Glen Gates of Avalon and Brad Gates and his wife, Sue, of Chillicothe; one daughter, Linda Maples of Huffman, TX; one brother, Earl ?Book? Gates of Chillicothe; two sisters, Eddith Johnson of North Kansas City and Maxine Dowell of Gladstone; five grandchildren, Gil Gates and his wife, Karen, of Chillicothe, Marci Dodd and her husband, Tillmon, of Houston, TX, Ginger Jones and her husband, Patrick, of Chillicothe, Chris Gates and his wife, Olivia, of McPherson, KS and Jeff Gates of Chillicothe; and six great-grandchildren, Gabrielle Gates, Geana Gates and Gillen Gates of Chillicothe, Ashlee Dodd of Houston, TX and Hallee and Hannah Jones of Chillicothe.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Arlin and Kenneth Gates; one sister, Mary Holmes; and an infant son, Terry Lynn Gates.
