The Spickard City Council approved the 2005-2006 budget and agreed to bid out mowing services during a meeting Tuesday night.

City Clerk DeAnn Olson said the budget shows a balance on hand as of April 1 of $226,887. Revenues are projected at $136,738 and expenditures are projected at $139,292, leaving the projected balance on hand as of April 1, 2006 at $224,333.

Bids will be accepted to mow and bale hay at the lagoon site, with bids due at city hall by May 2. Hay must be removed within 30 days of it being baled, Mrs. Olson said.

The council accepted a proposal from Utility Services of $950 for the washout and disinfection of the city water tower. Water customers were again reminded to uncover their water meters so that they can be read.

A large item trash pickup for Onyx customers in Spickard will be held on Thursday, April 28. Mrs. Olson said large appliances will be required to have a sticker before they will be picked up. There will be a $20 cost for appliances with freon and a $5 cost for all others. Stickers can be purchased at city hall during regular business hours.

The next council meeting will be on Tuesday, May 3.
