Ruth Shipley, an 80-year-old resident of 215 Ellison St. died at 2:15 a.m. today (Thursday, March 31, 2005) at Liberty Hospital in Liberty.

Ruth Shipley, an 80-year-old resident of 215 Ellison St. died at 2:15 a.m. today (Thursday, March 31, 2005) at Liberty Hospital in Liberty.

Arrangements are pending at the Whitaker Eads Funeral Home in Trenton.

Mrs. Shipley was born Dec. 24, 1924 on a farm in Sullivan County, the daughter of Miles and Hazel Hamilton Harris Williams. She was raised in the Humphreys area and graduated from Galt High School.

On April 24, 1943 she was united in marriage to Alfred L. Shipley near Browning. He preceded her in death on Aug. 1, 1998.

After their marriage, the couple lived on farms in the Galt and Princeton areas before moving to Trenton in 1960. Mrs. Shipley had been employed as a personal secretary to Leroy Miller at the firm of Miller, Seidel and Haven for 43 years prior to her retirement.

She was a member of the First Christian Church, Trenton Rotary Club and the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Mrs. Shipley is survived by one son, Gary Shipley and his wife, Glenda of Holts Summit; a sister, Alice Freerksen of Kansas City; three grandchildren, Jeffry Scott and his wife, Tami Shipley, Beth Dudenhoefer and Evan Polly; two nieces and a nephew.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Mrs. Shipley was preceded in death by a half-sister, Geraldine Crouch.
