John Mack Ray, a 53-year-old resident of St. Joseph, died on Friday, March 25, 2005 at the Heartland East Medical Center in St. Joseph. He was a native of Mercer County.

John Mack Ray, a 53-year-old resident of St. Joseph, died on Friday, March 25, 2005 at the Heartland East Medical Center in St. Joseph. He was a native of Mercer County.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, March 30, 2005 at the Greenlee-Middleton Funeral Chapel in Princeton. Pastor Guy Olin Thomas will officiate. Burial will be in the Mitchell Cemetery in Melbourne.
An open visitation will begin at 8 a.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home, with a family visitation to be from 2 p.m. until service time.
Mr. Ray was born on Oct. 16, 1951 in Saline, the son of Worthy Hobert and Bessie Greenall Ray. He was raised in Mercer County and graduated in 1970 from Princeton High School. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving with the U.S. Marines. He was a resident of St. Joseph most of his adult life.
Mr. Ray enjoyed watching and following football, especially the Green Bay Packers. He sang solos and sang with a group at the Northwest Missouri Psychiatric Rehabilitation Center in St. Joseph.
Mr. Ray is survived by a brother, Nelson Ray and his wife, Betty, of Cainsville; four sisters, Ruby Hydorn and her husband, Melvin, of North Kansas City, Myrna Griffin and her husband, James, of Independence, Ramona King of Bethany and Mary Ann Towsley and her husband, Hugh, of Durango, CO; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Sonya Page.
