Arvard Vanderford, an 83-year-old resident of Trenton, died on Monday, Feb. 14, 2005 at the Sunnyview Nursing Home in Trenton after a two-year battle with cancer. He was a former Spickard resident.

Arvard Vanderford, an 83-year-old resident of Trenton, died on Monday, Feb. 14, 2005 at the Sunnyview Nursing Home in Trenton after a two-year battle with cancer. He was a former Spickard resident.

The body was donated to science and no funeral is planned. A memorial will be held at a later date.

Mr. Vanderford was born on June 5, 1921.

He is survived by his wife, Irene Vanderford of Trenton; three step-daughters, Wilma Stewart Eskridge of Trenton and Clara Betz Haskins and June Betz Rice, both of Augusta, GA; two step-sons, James Betz of Texas and Leon Betz of Trenton; 12 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.
