The Galt City Council met Saturday morning, discussing an upgrade to the chlorination system, a fence around the square and a change in the utility payment collection system.

City Clerk Mary Young said the council met with Utilities Superintendent Gary May concerning an upgrade to the chlorination system in the water tower and will be looking at cost estimates for the project. A discussion was held concerning the possibility of putting a fence around the square and the park in an effort to stop vehicles from driving through the two areas.

It was agreed to no longer open city hall as a collection site for one-half day each month. The council does intend to install a drop box for utility payments.

The next regular meeting is scheduled for 8 a.m. Saturday, March 12.
