Mrs. Alta Frances Johnson Hatcher, formerly a resident of the Osgood area, passed away at 8:05 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 14, 2005 at the Sunnyview Nursing Home of Trenton.

Mrs. Alta Frances Johnson Hatcher, formerly a resident of the Osgood area, passed away at 8:05 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 14, 2005 at the Sunnyview Nursing Home of Trenton.
Funeral services for Mrs. Hatcher are scheduled for 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2005 at the Payne Funeral Home of Galt. Brother Stan Richardson will officiate. Burial will be in the Campground Cemetery near Osgood.
A visitation is scheduled for noon until service time on Wednesday. An open visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2005.
Alta Frances Johnson, youngest child of Rufus Oliver ?Ollie? Johnson and Elizabeth Frances Phipps, was born pm March 17, 1914 in Osgood, where she lived in or near most of her life.
On Oct. 17, 1931 she was united in marriage with Ray William Hatcher, son of John Franklin and Sarah Ann McCullough Hatcher. Ray and Alta farmed in the Osgood area and later operated the MFA store in Osgood. After retiring the lived in Galt until their health failed and first Ray and then Alta entered the Sunnyview Nursing Home, where they lived until their deaths.
Survivors include a son, Bobbie Ray and his wife, Elnora ?Jackie? Jones Hatcher of San Diego, CA; a daughter, Elizabeth Ann ?Libby,? now Mrs. Roy Leon Root of Colona, IL; seven grandchildren, Ricky, Randy and Robby Leroy Root of Colona, IL, Michael Hatcher of Sacramento, CA, Mark Hatcher of LaMesa, CA and Michele (Mrs. Edward Broderick) and Melissa (Mrs. Michael Krauser), both of Houston, TX; nine great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a sister, Wilma Gertrude (Mrs. Overton Ephraim Hart); and four brothers, Ernest Ray, who married Eulah Cox; Troy Lee, Owen Loyal, who married Carrie Johnson, and William Lloyd; and a great-granddaughter, Tiffany Faye Hatcher.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Cancer Society and may be left at the funeral home.
