The North Central Missouri College men’s and women’s basketball teams dropped a pair of games to Penn Valley Community College on Thursday night.

The NCMC men lost to Penn Valley, 89-62. NCMC led 32-30 at halftime in what Coach Steve Richman called a frustrating contest.

“When you go into another team’s environment, you know you have to play above and beyond your expectations and we didn’t do that,” Richman commented, adding that the Pirates kept their head in the game and will use this loss to worker harder and get ready for the next contest.

NCMC was led by Cortez Jeffries with 11 points and Jared Boone with 10. The men are 12-10 and will be at Hamilton Community College in Lincoln, NE on Wednesday.

In the women’s matchup, NCMC fell, 70-56. The Lady Pirates trailed by just two points at the half, 34-32. Coach James Arnold noted the squad played a very strong first half as well as the first 10 minutes of the second half before hitting a cold streak offensively. NCMC was able to hang around before being forced to foul late in the game, allowing Penn Valley to increase the lead.

Leigh Mead led the scoring for NCMC with 14 points and Dana Lucas added 10. Penn Valley was led by Jackiesha Davis with 26 points. The NCMC women fall to 14-11 on the year.

The NCMC women will travel to Forest Park next Friday, Feb. 11.
