Walter E. Thorne, a 96-year-old resident of Chariton, IA, died on Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2005 at the Chariton Nursing Home and Rehab Center.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 4, 2005 at the Fielding Funeral Home in Chariton. Pastor Tony Pulatie will officiate. Burial will be in the LaGrange Cemetery.
A family visitation will be held from 6 to 8 o?clock tonight (Thursday, Feb. 3, 2005) at the funeral home.
Mr. Thorne was born on Aug. 16, 1908 in Melrose, IA. He was an electrician.
Survivors include his wife, Sarah Thorne of Chariton; three sons, Bill L. Thorne of Chariton, Glenn Thorne of Trenton and Frank E. Thorne of Des Moines, IA; three daughters, Joyce Polo, Virginia A. Etter and Carolyn L. McFarland, all of Chariton;18 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
