Ruth Weis a 75-year-old resident of St. Joseph, died Wednesday, January 19, 2005 at her home.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 23, 2005, at Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory in St. Joseph. Burial will be in the Bellemont Cemetery in Wathena, KS.

A family visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 22, 2005 at the funeral home. General visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday.

Mrs. Weis was born May 5, 1929 in St. Joseph, the daughter of Charles and Ollie Shields Burkert. She had lived in Trenton and Maryville and spent most of her life in St. Joseph. She was a homemaker. She was a member of the Old Time Christian Church and was active in P.T.A.

She is survived by her husband, A. Leland Weis of the home; her son, Charles Routh of Trenton; four daughters, Donna Duncan Lela Thompson and Traci Angsten, all of St. Joseph, and Janet Henry of Platte City; 12 grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; three step great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; 11 brothers and sisters; and one granddaughter, Melissa Routh.

The family suggests memorial gifts to Hands of Hope Hospice or the American Cancer Society.
