Anna Lee (Musgrave) Thompson, 77, went to be with the Lord at around 3 a.m. in her home on Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2005, after a 15-month battle with cancer. She was a very dear, precious, wonderful, caring, loving, loyal and supportive wife and mother.
Ann was born and raised in Galt. She graduated from Galt High School in 1945 and was a member of the Galt Methodist Church.
At age 19, she married CH Thompson of Jamesport, a Merchant Seaman in World War II, on Friday, Dec. 13, 1946 in Port Arthur, TX. They enjoyed a beautiful, loving and committed marriage relationship for 58 years.
CH and Ann had their firstborn son on Aug. 28, 1948; he suffered infant complications and passed away on Nov. 9, 1948. In 1964, they adopted a newborn son, Terry Thompson, and in 1965 they adopted a newborn daughter, Kim Thompson, thus beginning their family. Ann always said those were the “brightest days of their lives.” She loved being a wife and mother and committed the rest of her life to providing the most loving and nurturing home to her family. Her children have now grown up now and they call her “blessed.”
Ann is preceded in death by her parents (Ted and Bliss Musgrave), brother (Billie), sister (Gloria Jean), and firstborn son (Larry).
Ann leaves behind her husband (CH Thompson,83, of Blue Springs, MO), her son (Terry Thompson,41, of Olathe, KS), and her daughter (Kimberly Thompson,39, of Blue Springs, MO).
Although she has gone to be with the Lord, she will be missed more than words could ever express. Please join her surviving family for visitation at the D.W. Newcomers Funeral Home in Blue Springs, MO, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 21, 2005 or at the Payne Funeral Home in Galt, MO, from 11 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Jan. 22, 2005 immediately preceding the funeral service at 12:00 noon.
She will be buried at the Galt West Cemetery immediately following the service.
The family has requested that contributions be made to either The Cancer Institute in Saint Luke’s Hospital of Kansas City or Cancer Action in Independence.
