The Laredo R-7 and Princeton R-5 boards of education met Monday night, approving health insurance coverage and offering a superintendent?s contract.

Laredo R-7

The Laredo R-7 Board of Education voted to continue its health insurance coverage and heard a facility report during its meeting.

According to information provided by Toni Boone, who serves as secretary at the district, the board approved a motion to continue its health insurance coverage with Coventry Health Insurance for the coming year. There will be no increase in premiums.

The board agreed to attend the MSBA Training Jan. 14 and 15 in Chillicothe and approved the special education evaluation as presented by Lori Owens, special education instructor. The budget report was also approved and during a facility report, it was noted that the intercom has been installed and the damper installation has been completed in the classrooms.

An executive session had been listed on the agenda but was not held.

The next regular meeting is scheduled for Feb. 14.

Princeton R-5

The Princeton R-5 Board of Education extended a contract to the superintendent, accepted a bid and approved several items during its meeting Monday evening.

According to information provided by Superintendent Alan Hamilton, the board conducted his evaluation and then extended his contract through June 30, 2008. His salary for the 2005-2006 school year will be $70,000.

The board opened bids for the sale of a surplus plumbing snake and accepted a bid from Bob Hoover Plumbing for $600. Several items were approved by the board, including the distance learning program evaluation, the preschool program evaluation and MSBA policy changes dealing with emergency plans and recruiting of personnel.

The board also discussed fund-raising activities by various groups. The building principals were asked to prepare a presentation for the February board meeting on numbers of events, percentage of sales received and the need for fund-raisers.

The next regular meeting is scheduled for Monday, Feb. 14.
