The Newtown-Harris Board of Education met Wednesday night, setting the filing dates, contracting for school health care services and agreed to seek bids for a safety barrier.
According to information provided by Superintendent Andy Anderson, the board set the filing dates for the April election as Dec. 14-17 and Jan. 3-18 and agreed to contract with Connie Michaelis from Milan for school health services, with no charge to the district. The board agreed to accept bids for a safety barrier for the preschool building using a grant to pay for a portion of the project.
In other business, the board heard teacher reports from Jeremy Parsons and Susanne Crawford and recognized Trevor Tucker as the Elementary Student of the Month. It was announced that the second semester ITV classes will be Government and English 102 and that Brenda Betz, parents as teachers coordinator, will be holding a meeting in the school cafeteria at 6:30 p.m., Wednesday at the school. It was also announced that the Christmas program will be held tonight, and the Christmas dance will be held from 7 to 11 p.m. Saturday. The roof repairs are complete to the elementary building.
Classes will be dismissed for Christmas break at 11:30, Friday, Dec. 17 and will resume on Monday, Jan. 3.
The next regular board meeting is scheduled for Jan. 12.
