Wilberta ?Willie? Ward, a 68-year-old resident of St. Joseph, died Saturday, Dec. 4, 2004 at a local health care facility.

Wilberta ?Willie? Ward, a 68-year-old resident of St. Joseph, died Saturday, Dec. 4, 2004 at a local health care facility.
Memorial services were held at 3 p.m. today (Monday, Dec. 6, 2004) at at Meierhoffer Funeral Home and Crematory in St. Joseph.
Mrs. Ward was born March 21, 1936 in Mahaska, KS, the daughter of Wilbur and Bernice Deegan, and lived most of her life in St. Joseph.
On Jan. 31, 1954, she was married to Robert M. Ward, who survives of the home.
She was a librarian for Skaith Elementary School for 24 years, retiring in June 1998.
She was a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Richard S. Ward of Kernersville, N.C.; a daughter, Leisa G. Merritt, Kansas City; her mother, Bernice Deegan of Trenton; a brother, W. Curt Deegan of Boca Raton, FL; a sister, Connie Krohn of Princeton; five grandchildren; three great-grandsons; and special friends, Karen and Terry Young of St. Joseph.
She was preceded in death by her father, Wilbur Deegan.
