Grundy Electric Cooperative has announced organization of the GEC Community Foundation, Inc.
The foundation was established to assist qualifying schools and organizations with grant monies in the area of education, health and rural development. Funds will be received through the GEC “Operation Round Up” program, where GEC members voluntarily round up their electric utility bill to the next dollar. Funds are open to eligible entities within the cooperatives 12-county area including Grundy, Mercer, Harrison and portions of Linn, Livingston, Daviess, Gentry, Putnam and Sullivan in Missouri and Ringgold, Wayne and Decatur counties in Iowa.
Foundation trustees are volunteers who represent the GEC service territory. Officers include Cliff Addison of Bethany, president; Glenda Homedale of Princeton, vice president; Scott Wilson of Trenton, treasurer; Peggy Boulware of Trenton, secretary; and Larry May of Browning, Joe Hartley of Mercer and Rhonda Ewing of Lineville, IA, trustee members.
Applications are currently being accepted for the first allocation of funds, with the deadline being Feb. 1, 2005. Qualified applicants must be a non-profit 501(c)3 and may apply for a grant by completing the application with support information. Applications are available by calling the GEC at 660-359-3941, ext. 23 or 33. Applications will be reviewed by the trustees and successful applicants will be notified by March 4.
