?Teaching Watercolor: The Creative Journey,? a showing of works by artist Neva Wood, will continue the 2004-2005 exhibition Schedule in the Dorris Rider Art Gallery at North Central Missouri College.
Ms. Woods? exhibit opened today, Nov. 15, and continues through Friday, Dec. 10. She will present a gallery talk at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 16 in the gallery. She will also conduct a watercolor demonstration at 1 o?clock that afternoon in the Art Building (Building B) at NCMC. All NCMC students and the public are invited to attend.
Ms. Wood is an accomplished watercolorist and acclaimed art educator. She is currently chairperson of the Art Department at Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg.
?I take a very eclectic approach to painting and the watercolor medium is capable of a wide range of expressive possibilities,? Ms. Wood said. ?My goal is to speak honestly to my viewer and hope they feel something of what I feel when I am painting that particular work.?
The exhibit will primarily feature watercolor paintings created as teaching examples in Ms. Wood?s Watercolor classes at CMSU. Ms. Wood?s painting style is very diverse, from tightly rendered images to completely abstract. However, nearly all of her works are highlighted by bright colors.
?I am very excited for Ms. Wood to share her work with NCMC and Trenton,? said Rider Gallery Director Jim Norris. ?Her art is absolutely wonderful and her personality is as lively and colorful as her paintings. Her gallery talk and watercolor demonstration promises to be very entertaining and enjoyable!?
Regular hours at the Rider Art Gallery are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, as well as selected weekend and evening hours. For more information, persons can contact Jim Norris at 359-3948 ext. 345 at NCMC.
