Two seniors at the Grundy R-5 High School in Galt have been nominated for the Wendy?s High School Heisman Award.
Amber Followwill and Steven Lentz were nominated for the award, which honors the nation?s top high school seniors who best exemplify a supreme ?citizen-scholars-athlete.? The two were nominated by Principal Kirk Cohagan and counselor Robin Brown for their academic aptitude, athletic talent and display of commitment to their community.
Miss Followwill is the daughter of Ron and Connie Followwill. She is a member of the National Honor Society, the school yearbook staff and Future Farmers of America. She is a three-year member of both the Family Career and Community Leaders of American and the Future Business Leaders of America. She has lettered in softball and basketball since her freshman year and spends time tutoring elementary students through the Hi-STEP program.
Lentz is the son of Dan and Julea Lentz. He is a member of the National Honor Society, the Future Farmers of America and the Quiz Bowl Team. He has served many volunteer hours for the St. Joseph Catholic as well as a tutor for Hi-STEP. He attends the Grand River Technical School, where he received the award for outstanding performance in electronics. He has earned a varsity letter in softball since his freshman year and has also lettered in basketball and track.
