Local residents who plan to attend this week’s Grundy County Health Department flu clinics are reminded that proof of residency will be requested to ensure that county taxpayers are being served.

Because of the nationwide flue shortage, flu shots are only being given to county residents considered high risk, including children aged 6 to 23 months, persons over age 65, women who will be pregnant during the flu season (November to April) or individuals who have heart disease, lung disease, asthma, kidney disease, diabetes, a blood disorder or an immune system caused by disease or medication.

Spickard, Galt and Laredo high risk residents will be able to get shots on Tuesday. Shots will be given at Spickard from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Wise Community Center; at the Laredo Fire Station from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m.; and at the Galt Senior Housing from 3 to 4 p.m. Trenton and other county residents can receive shots at the Grundy County Senior Center from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Wednesday and from 1 to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 26 (if vaccine supplies permit).

Eligible clients should bring their Medicare or Medicaid card for billing purposes. A donation is requested for those not covered by Medicare or Medicaid.

For more information, persons can call the Grundy County Health Department at 359-4196.
