The eight annual Missouri Day Marching Band Festival will take place on Saturday, Oct. 16 as part of the 20th annual Missouri Day Festival activities.

The eight annual Missouri Day Marching Band Festival will take place on Saturday, Oct. 16 as part of the 20th annual Missouri Day Festival activities.
Forty bands are scheduled to take part in evaluative events scheduled throughout the day in parade, auxiliary, drumline, twirling and field show competitions. The state high school activities associations of Missouri, Kansas, Iowa and Illinois have sanctioned these events.
Several of the bands will be taking part in a parade, that gets under way at 8:30 a.m. at the intersection of Crowder Road and Main Street. The parade will continue south on Main Street to Ninth Street, turning east on Ninth to Normal. Bands competing in the evaluative contests will exit at Normal Street so that they can proceed to Trenton High School for the remainder of the morning and early afternoon auxiliary, drumline and twirling events, which will be held in the high school gym. There is no admission for any of those events.
The field show competition will take place throughout the afternoon at C.F. Russell Stadium. There is an admission charge of $5 for adults, $3 for children in grades six through 12 and free for children in fifth grade or lower.
A complete schedule of events, including performance times, will be announced next week.
High school bands scheduled to take part in various activities during the festival include Adair County R-1 at Novinger, Albany, Braymer, Carrollton, St. Joseph Central, Centralia, Chillicothe, Concordia, DeKalb, East Buchanan of Gower, Gallatin, Green City, Harrisonville, Holden, Kearney, Lathrop, Lawson, Leeton, Louisburg, KS, Macon, Marshall, Maryville, Maysville, Moravia, IA, Norborne, North Daviess of Jameson, Odessa, Pattonsburg, Polo, Princeton, Putnam County of Unionville, Raymore-Peculiar, Raytown, Savannah, Smithville, South Harrison of Bethany, Stewartsville, Sweet Springs, Tri-County of Jamesport and Warrensburg. Trenton High School will be serving as the host band.
