Esther Davenport, a 97-year-old resident of the Eastview Manor Care Center in Trenton, died at 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 23, 2004 at the care center, where she had resided since Oct. 22, 1997.

Esther Davenport, a 97-year-old resident of the Eastview Manor Care Center in Trenton, died at 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 23, 2004 at the care center, where she had resided since Oct. 22, 1997.

An open visitation is scheduled after 8 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 26, 2004 at the Resthaven Mortuary, north of Trenton. No local service is planned. Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 27, 2004 at the Hillcrest Memorial Park in Omaha, NE.

Mrs. Davenport was born on Feb. 12, 1907 in Omaha, the daughter of Johanes and Caroline Magnussen Grobeck. She was married at Waterloo, IA on Sept. 6, 1935 to Leonard V. Davenport, who preceded her in death on Sept. 21, 1987. They made their home in Omaha all their lives and she was employed as an accountant for J.L. Brandies for many years. A few years after the death of her husband, she moved to Trenton to make her home with her son, Roger, until ill health forced her to move to the care center.

She was a lifelong member of the Pella Lutheran Church in Omaha.

Survivors include one son, Roger Davenport, and his wife, Lynette, of Trenton; one daughter, Sandra, now Mrs. Caz Swier of El Paso, TX; and two grandchildren, including Sarah, now Mrs. Scott Calhoun.
