The Grundy County Commission met in regular session today, approving the purchase of a security system using funds from a Homeland Security Grant.
Commissioners agreed to buy a security system from Secure Tech at a cost of $9,200. The system will involve ?panic buttons? being placed in each of the county offices and the courtroom that will connect to either the sheriff?s department or the county?s 911 system and will alert law enforcement in the need of an emergency. The system will be paid for through a Homeland Security Grant in the amount of $11,000 and commissioners said they have not yet decided how to spend the remaining $1,800. Presiding Commissioner Kenny Roberts was to attend a meeting this afternoon in Cameron concerning the grant funds.
