Kansas City Chorus Of Sweet Adelines To Perform In Trenton
The Kansas City Chorus of Sweet Adelines International will be performing in Trenton on Saturday, Oct. 2 as the opening show for the Grundy County Friends of the Arts 2004-2005 series.
The program will be held at 7 p.m. in the Ketcham Community Center on the North Central Missouri College campus. The chorus is comprised of 130 women from the Kansas City area and is the second oldest chorus in the Sweet Adelines organization, having held its first meeting in 1945. The chorus has won regional competitions eight times since 1989 and is the current Region 7, first-place chorus and the 2003-2004 fifth-place international chorus.
Jo Kraut is director of the Kansas City group. A professional music coach, she has achieved the level of master director in the director’s certification program and assists Sweet Adelines quartets and choruses throughout the world.
In addition to the chorus, eight quartets within the group are scheduled to sing. They include In 7th Heaven, a group that has been together since 1991; 4’s Company, which has been together since 1990; Fanfare, the 2002 Region 7 quartet champion; All That, which has nearly 70 years of barbershop experience among the group members; Sound Investment, a fairly new group with two years together; Special Touch, which is the newest quartet; Club 7, made up of members of past championship quartets from Region 7; and the Crazy 8’s, the only double quartet in the group.
The performance is being sponsored by the Friends of the Arts in cooperation with corporate sponsors Century 21 Smith and Associates, Citizens Bank and Trust, Hy-Vee Food Store, the PAR Broadcast Group, Trenton Coca-Cola Bottling Co. LLC and the Trenton Republican-Times.
Admission to the program is $5 at the door or free to Friends of the Arts season ticketholders.
