Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday Sept. 16, 2004 at the Union Baptist (Coon Creek) Church, west of Edinburg. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Joseph L. Norton VFW Post No. 919 of Trenton. Burial will be in the Edinburg IOOF Cemetery at Edinburg.
A family visitation will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 15, 2004 at the Slater Funeral Home in Trenton.
Mr. Peery, was born on May 29, 1913 in Brimson, the son of Willis Vest and Margaret Mae Alley Peery. He graduated from Brimson schools. He was veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army. He was a retired farmer and ran a saw mill. He was also retired from Trenton Foods.
He was married on Jan. 20, 1941 at St. Joseph to L. Faye Shirley.
He is survived by his wife, Faye Peery of Chillicothe; one son, Neil Peery and his wife, Maggie, of Trenton; two daughters, Gladys Flowers and her husband, Skeet, of Trenton and Susan Zacha and her husband, Patrick, of Springfield; one brother, Kenneth Peery of Moberly; one half-brother, Brammie McLey of Pattonsburg; one sister, Willa Gwinn of St. Joseph; 10 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his step-mother, Dot Peery Moss; a brother, Marion Peery; one step-sister, Captolia Austin; one sister, Mildred Peery; two sons, an infant, Harold Edward Peery, and Richard Peery; and one grandson, Aaron Ray Peery.
The family suggests memorials to the American Diabetes Association or the Edinburg Lodge No. 394, IOOF. They may be left at the funeral home.
