Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 8, 2004 at the Greenlee-Middleton Funeral Chapel in Princeton. Rev. Robert Louden will officiate. Burial will be in the Early Cemetery, south of Mercer.
Open visitation is under way. A family visitation is scheduled from 7 to 8 o?clock tonight (Tuesday, Sept. 7, 2004) at the funeral home.
Mr. Garton was born on Oct. 12, 1975 in Des Moines, IA, the son of Ronald Rickie Garton and Linda Susan Shroyer. He was raised in Des Moines, graduating from Roosevelt High School at Des Moines. For the past four years he was a resident of Wayne County, IA, living in Corydon and Allerton, and also spending part of his time with his maternal grandparents, Wayne and Carolyn Shroyer, near Mercer.
He loved sports, rodeos, hunting mushrooms and fishing.
Mr. Garton is survived by his mother Linda Shroyer of Davison, MI; his father, Ron Garton of West Des Moines, IA; a sister, Cicely Lapierre and her husband, Nathan, of Corvallis, OR; his paternal grandmother, Wilma Garton of Cambria, IA; two nephews, Hawthorn and Taliesun Lapierre; one niece, Berkana Lapierre; two aunts, Sharon Cribb and her husband, Garry, of Kansas City and Dana Vela and her husband, Rene, of Des Moines; three uncles, Tony Garton and his wife, Dorothy, of Des Moines, Shane Garton and his wife Gloria, of Charlotte, NC, and Charles Garton and his wife, Betty, of Omaha, NE; and several cousins.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Charles P. ?Junior? Garton; his maternal grandparents, Wayne and Carolyn Shroyer; and his step-father, Dusty Hogue.
