Miss Trenton 2005 will be crowned during the 33rd annual Miss Trenton Area Scholarship Pageant, scheduled for 7 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 6 at the Trenton AMS auditorium.

Missouri’s oldest Miss America preliminary will feature a “Broadway” theme and will feature contestants from both the immediate area as well as from throughout the state. Applications are currently being accepted for the pageant, with the local winner representing the area in the 2005 Miss Missouri Pageant in Mexico next June.

“We are looking for young women who are interested in participating in the pageant system and representing this area at not only the state pageant next June, but at various functions throughout the year as an ambassador of the community,” Greg Dalrymple said. “Pageant contestants also have a wonderful opportunity to earn scholarship monies to help them further their education, which is a big part of what the Miss America system is all about.”

Contestants must be at least 17 years of age as of Sept. 30 of this year and be a high school graduate by July 2005. They must be a resident of Missouri six months prior to the pageant or have successfully completed one semester as a full-time student, being presently enrolled and attending classes full-time at an accredited state college or university. No more than six months must have elapsed between completion of the last full-time semester and the beginning of the next full-time semester. Contestants cannot be older than 24 years of age and must never have been married.

“We are excited about the 2005 pageant and look forward to hearing from contestants interested in becoming a part of the Miss America program,” Dalrymple said.

Young women wanting an application or seeking more information about the program are asked to contact Dalrymple at 660-339-7128 or Diane Raynes at 660-359-6146.
