The Grundy County Road and Bridge Department has announced the closing of Southeast 30th Street until further notice.

Road and Bridge Supervisor Kenny Orndorff said the road will be closed where Route M meets Southeast 30th Street, west of Laredo. The road is being closed so that repairs can be made to the bridge over No Creek. Motorists are encouraged to take alternate routes until the work is complete.

The bridge was one of many damaged during last Friday?s rain storm and county officials are currently looking into the possibility of receiving funds from the federal or state emergency management agencies. It was noted that the damage from this storm exceeded that from a storm in the spring of 2002 in which funding was made available to assist the county and townships with making repairs.

In another announcement regarding the road and bridge department, the county commission on Tuesday hired Gilbert Hughs of Brimson to serve as a member of the crew. He began his duties today.
