NCMC Plans Alumni Banquet
North Central Missouri College will hold its first alumni banquet on Saturday night, Oct. 16.
NCMC Director of Development Steve Maxey said an effort is being made to continue with the long-standing tradition of Trenton Junior College, and now NCMC, and is inviting all alumni and friends of the college to return to Trenton for an event that officials hope will become an annual celebration.
The banquet will begin at 6 p.m. in the Ketcham Community Center and will include a sit-down banquet and stage show as well as recognition of outstanding college alumni.
“This is a way to recognize wonderful volunteers who have played a major role in the continued growth of the college and some very important individuals will be recognized at the October event,” Maxey said.
The name of the honorees will be announced at a later date.
Maxey said the October date was selected following an alumni brunch held last year when persons asked for a regular date. It was felt the Saturday night of the Missouri Day Festival would provide a weekend of many activities, cultivating with the banquet. He went on to say that the 2005 date will be the 80th birthday celebration of the college and encouraged individuals to mark the date of Oct. 15, 2005 on their calendars for a very special event.
Maxey said he hopes the third weekend in October can be as successful and traditional as the Trenton High School Alumni Weekend in September. He said that enough time has passed since the college and public school system were one entity and that it is time to organize a separate event to celebrate.
Reservations for the 2004 event will be accepted until Oct. 8 and advance reservations are required. A $20 ticket will be sold through the college’s development office and reserved seating for tables of six will also be available. Persons will be able to choose from two entrees for the banquet. Proceeds from the event will be added to the college’s endowed scholarship fund.
