Friday night?s heavy rains caused damage to some of the rural roads in Grundy County, with one road scheduled to be closed while a bridge damaged in the storm can be repaired.

According to the Grundy County Commission, county and township roads sustained damage to bridges, culverts and tubes, with gravel washed off the roads. The back walls of a bridge on Southeast 30th Street were washed out and that road will be closed for a couple of days while repairs are made. Commissioners said the road and bridge crew will announce when that work will begin. Assessment of the damage to the roads and bridges is still under way and anyone who notices damage is asked to contact the county road and bridge crew or their township officials.
