Rev. K. Vernon Taylor, a 92-year-old resident of Underwood, IA., died on Saturday, Aug. 28, 2004 at the Northcrest Care and Rehabilitation in Council Bluffs, IA, after suffering a broken hip in July.

Rev. K. Vernon Taylor, a 92-year-old resident of Underwood, IA., died on Saturday, Aug. 28, 2004 at the Northcrest Care and Rehabilitation in Council Bluffs, IA, after suffering a broken hip in July.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 31, 2004 at the Cutler-O’Neill-Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home in Council Bluffs. Rev. James Newman of the Hazel Dell Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2004 at the Greencastle Cemetery in Greencastle.
Rev. Taylor was born on Oct. 16. 1911 in rural Sullivan County, the son of Irven and Gertie Andes Taylor. He graduated from high school and was ordained a Methodist minter in 1959. He was engaged in farming and agribusiness in Adair County. After his ordination, he served churches in the Missouri Conference of the United Methodist Church, including the Crandall United Methodist Church in Trenton as well as in Mound City, St. Joseph, Memphis, Kahoka and Jennings, LA.
Rev. Taylor was a member of the Hurdland Masonic Lodge and the St. Joseph Scottish Rite.
Rev. Taylor is survived by his wife of 68 years, Helen L. Mardis Taylor of the home; a daughter, Nancy E. Scott of Houston; a son, David, and his wife, Marilyn, of Neola, IA; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; a grandson, Robert D. Taylor; and a son-in-law, Alan Scott.
