Earl Hill, a 72-year-old resident of Galt, died at 3:04 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 20, 2004 at his home, where he was receiving hospice care.

Earl Hill, a 72-year-old resident of Galt, died at 3:04 a.m. today (Friday, Aug. 20, 2004) at his home, where he was receiving hospice care.
The body was cremated. A memorial service with military graveside rites will be announced later. Payne Funeral Home at Galt is handling the arrangements.
Mr. Hill was born on May 28, 1932 in Des Moines, IA, the son of Earl Raymond and Pauline L. Sass Hill. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War. He lived in Des Moines, where he worked as a conductor for the Rock Island Railroad before moving to this area 13 years ago.
Mr. Hill was a member of the Trenton Elks Lodge No. 801 and the Major Dale Stepp American Legion Post No. 31 of Trenton.
Mr. Hill is survived by his companion, Janice Miller, of the home in Galt; two sons, Kevin Joseph Hill Hugen and Brian Fredrick Hill Hugen and his wife, Florence, all of Virginia Beach, VA; two daughters, Teresa Susan “Terry” Norman and her husband, Garry, of Chesapeake, VA, and Kathryn Jo Rush and her husband, Trevis, of Jefferson City; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three brothers; and two sisters.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.
