Charles Melvin Wilson, a 92-year-old resident of the Shirkey Leisure Retirement Village at Richmond, died on Wednesday, Aug. 4, 2004. He was a former Norborne resident.

Charles Melvin Wilson, a 92-year-old resident of the Shirkey Leisure Retirement Village at Richmond, died on Wednesday, Aug. 4, 2004. He was a former Norborne resident.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 6, 2004 the New Hope Church, north of Hardin. Burial will be in the New Hope Cemetery near Stet.

A family visitation will be held from 5:30 to 6:30 tonight (Thursday, Aug. 5, 2004) at the Pitts Funeral Home in Braymer. General visitation is under way until 8 o?clock tonight.

Mr. Wilson was born on Nov. 20, 1911 near Stet in Ray County, the son of Clarence Oliver and Vivian McBee Wilson. He was a 1930 graduate of Stet High School. He began farming after graduation until he retired in 1976. He then moved to Norborne. He served as a road overseer for Grape Grove Township and served on the Freedom Retirement Board of Directors in Norborne.

He is survived by one sister, Grace Clay of California, MO; and several cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Maderine Garrett and Gertrude Clay; and two brothers, Kenneth and C.O. Jr.
