Elwanda Day Morgan, a 76-year-old resident of Independence, died on Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2004 at her home. She was a former resident of Galt.

Elwanda Day Morgan, a 76-year-old resident of Independence, died on Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2004 at her home. She was a former resident of Galt.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 6, 2004 at the Mt. Washington Forever Mausoleum Chapel in Independence. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 5, 2004 at the Mt. Washington Forever Funeral Home.

Mrs. Morgan was born on June 3, 1928 in Sharp County, AR, the daughter of Ida Mae Goings and William Square Bettis. She was married on June 26, 1943 in Marrianna, AR to Buster Morgan, who survives of the home. She was a member of the Sterling Avenue Church of Christ. She was always eager to help anyone in need, caring for her mother, Ida Bettis, and three uncles in her home.

In addition to her husband of 61 years, she is survived by six children, Wilma Provience and her husband, Rod, of Adamsville, TN, Floye Hall and her husband, Kenny, of LaMonte, Linda Adams and her husband, Alva, of Independence, Sandra Miller and her husband, Gareld of Gladstone, Judy Wynn and her husband, Walter, of Iuka, MS and Bruce Morgan and his wife, Lisa, of Parkville; one sister, Fern Thomas of Bacliff, TX; one brother, Norman Bettis of Kansas City; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Hazel Crosland; one brother, Boyd Bettis; and a grandson, Stephen Hutsell.
