Graveside rites for Arline G. Carpenter of Hollister will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 2, 2004 at the South Evans Cemetery, located northeast of Trenton.
Mrs. Carpenter, a 96-year-old resident of Point Lookout Christian Health Care in Hollister, died at 1:50 a.m. on Wednesday, July 28, 2004 at the facility, where she had resided since Dec. 18, 2003.
General visitation will begin after 8 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 1, 2004 at the Resthaven Mortuary, north of Trentonn.
Mrs. Carpenter was born June 1, 1908 at Coffey, the daughter of Carre and Blanche McCoy Gear. She had resided in Kansas City for a number of years before moving to Branson.
She was married to William H. Carpenter, who preceded her in death on Aug. 5, 1995.
Mrs. Carpenter was a Baptist and had participated in volunteer work in the Baptist churches she attended while living in Kansas City and Branson.
Mrs. Carpenter is survived by a brother, Eugene Gear and his wife, Virginia, of Trenton; two nieces, Marilyn Leeper of Trenton and Barbara Briegel and her husband, James, of Lake Lotawana; two nephews, Douglas Gear and Randy Gear, both of Arizona; and three sisters-in-law, Sharlene Walker, Myrtle Dial and Opal Williams, all living out of the area.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a step-daughter, Doris E. Carpenter; a brother, Leland Gear; and a nephew, Michael Gear.
