Delbert Ellis, a 57-year-old resident of Lineville, IA, died on Tuesday, July 27, 2004 at his home in Lineville.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, July 30, 2004 at the Greenlee-Middleton Funeral Chapel in Princeton. Pastor Guy Olin Thomas will officiate. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery in Lineville.

A general visitation begins at 8 a.m. on Thursday, July 29, 2004 at the funeral home, where a family visitation will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. on Thursday.

Mr. Ellis was born on March 8, 1947 in Princeton, the son of Ira and Vernal Chapman Ellis. He was raised in Mercer county and was a 1965 graduate of Princeton High School. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving in the Army. After his discharge, he moved to California and worked for the U.S. Navy Department as an independent contractor, first as an electrician, rewiring ships, and later in logistics, supplying ships before they left port. After his retirement, he moved to Lineville in May 2001. He enjoyed working on the farm and shooting pool.

Mr. Ellis is survived by his companion, Connie Couchman of the home in Lineville; three daughters, Jody, Jackie and Jenny; four brothers, Doyle Ellis and his wife, Fleeta, of Lineville, Wilbur Ira Ellis and his wife, Avis, of Chariton, IA, Elwood Ellis and his wife, Mary Rose, of Independence and Sidney ?Rex? Ellis and his wife, Marilyn, of Arlington, WA; two sisters, Dorothy Delameter Marcum of Kansas City and Lenora Delameter and her husband, H.A., of Princeton; Connie?s children, Tina Sulser of Lineville, Eric Couchman of Humeston, IA and Aaron Couchman of Clio, IA; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Harold Ellis.
