Scott Ellis, a 76-year-old resident of Gilman City, died on Thursday, July 1, 2004 at a Daviess County health care center.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 5, 2004 at the Pilot Grove No. 1 Baptist Church at Gilman City. Burial was in the Pilot Grove No. 2 Cemetery at Jamesport. Masonic rites were conducted by the Bethany Lodge No. 97, AF&AM.

Mr. Ellis was born on Oct. 2, 1927 at Melbourne, the son of Leonard and Nettie Jane Scott Ellis. He was married on Nov. 25, 1945 to Norma Lee Puls, who preceded him in death on June 29, 1995.

Mr. Ellis was a lifelong farmer in the Gilman City area. He was a member of the Gilman City Masonic Lodge and the Scottish Rite of Kansas City. He was a member of the Gilman City Lions Club. He was of the Baptist faith.

He is survived by two sons, Stan and his wife, Mary Lee, of Gallatin and Ron and his wife, Carolyn, of Lamar; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Lucille Appleby, and four brothers, Cecil, Ray, Paul and Bob.
