Trenton will celebrate the Fourth of July with a gospel variety show and fireworks display at C.F. Russell Stadium this Sunday night.
Activities will begin at 6 p.m. with the Elks serving free watermelon and the VFW Ladies Auxiliary of Joseph L. Norton Post No. 919 selling cotton candy, hot dogs, chips and soda at the Eastside Park shelterhouse. Concessions will also be provided by the Trenton Area Chamber of Commerce, which will have snow cones, cold drinks and popcorn, and the Trenton Kiwanis club, which will have hamburgers and hot dogs.
A variety of local entertainers will be on hand for the evening programs, which begins at 7 o’clock at the stadium. Those scheduled to entertain include Ron Ratliff from the Tenth Street Baptist Church, the Jesus and Me Group, Barbara Tunnell, Mary Lou Polley, Grace Fellowship Gospel Trio, Janet Searcy, Jeremiah Hamilton and Lisa Huffstutter. All entertainers are volunteering their time to perform at the event. Duane Simmons is providing the sound system and will serve as the emcee for the evening.
The fireworks display will get under way at dusk.
As part of the celebration, the Trenton Coca-Cola Bottling Company LLC is recognizing 100 Years of Coke by helping to sponsor the fireworks display. Coca-Cola trivia will be conducted throughout the night and the winner of the trivia contest will receive a year?s supply of the new Coca-Cola C2 product. The winner will be announced before the fireworks display.

The Trenton AMS Mall will be sponsoring a music program in the mall auditorium from 4 to 6 p.m. featuring the Living Water and Living Sacrifice gospel groups. Admission will be charged.
